POLICE OFFICER

We are a full-service, professional agency, with 82 full-time sworn positions who work in a modern and progressive atmosphere.

Applicants must meet at least one of the following requirements to be eligible to take part in the application process:

 

§  Be currently employed as a law enforcement officer in the state of Florida or in another state

§  Have successfully completed or be currently attending a law enforcement academy in the state of Florida

 

Basic Requirements

To be considered for employment with the Winter Park Police Department you must be:

§  Be 19 Years of age

§  Be A U.S. Citizen

§  Possess a high school diploma or equivalent

§  Possess a valid Florida driver’s license

§  Meet vision requirements binocular and monocular vision of 20/50 uncorrected & 20/30 corrected

§  Have no problems with color vision

§  Be of good moral character

§  Pass a fingerprint check

§  Have no felony or misdemeanor convictions involving “Moral Turpitude”

§  Have an honorable military release (if applicable)

§  Pass an In depth background check

§  Pass preliminary examinations

 

Wages/Salary Compensation

§  First year salary @ $50,375 (For an officer assigned to the Patrol Division)

§  Higher pay for Law Enforcement experience

§  Off-duty detail rate starts @ $40/hour & Holiday rate @ $62/hour

§  Advanced education incentive up to $1,560/year

§  Full pension eligibility 20+ years of service

§  Career Development Pay increase @ 5% at 5 & 10 years

§  Paid dry cleaning + shoe allowance @ $120

§  Take-home vehicle upon completion of FTO Program
